What is your thesis? What is the one point that you want to make through this research (analysis, synthesis, evaluation of source material on cults)? YOu have lots of good material, but nothing tying it together at this point ... although you do give hints here and there.
Good perception on the use of God for control of cult members because no one can verify the existence of God, but almost everyone responds to the threat of God's vengeance for real and/or perceived injustices. While we may poo-poo the ravings of a lunatic leader, if he rants/raves in the name of God, we take a step back and say, "Wait a minute: this may be bigger than the man." No one wants to piss off God and/or fail to do His commands.
Interesting way to control people, isn't it? Very effective and often very permanent.
